Raku Experience 7th Jun 2025
Raku is an ancient Japanese pottery technique, which involves working with the elements of fire, water and earth. So, get fired up and be inspired to glaze your own pot and create stunning effects.
£55 per person, which includes two pots to glaze and fire. Additional pots may be available for £5 each.
Raku workshops are usually held monthly. They take place outside, so come prepared for the weather. We cannot run the workshops in extreme weather conditions - strong wind or driving rain, so occasionally we have to cancel the firing and offer refund or rebooking. Please make sure to let us have a contact phone number and the name and email of the people the workshop places are booked for.
No previous experience is needed.
Bisque fired pots are available for you to glaze and fire, but you could bring your own - for details ask. The red-hot pots are transferred from the kiln to reduction buckets where they are smoked and and the glazes transformed as the oxygen is consumed, developing the characteristic but unpredictable Raku crackles and lusters. You take home your own unique and stunning creations!
All times are 1pm - 4pm unless otherwise stated.
